Summer Fashion Wear Trends 2009 : Why A Woman Should Go Green Only

Once it comes to choosing the right fashion apparel as part of your summer fashion wear, there is much more to think beyond merely looking for the befitting sizes and colorful textures of your womens clothing.

womens summer wear fashion dressesThat means flaunting your beautiful skin and curves to look the cutest on the street this summer 2009 will do no charity on your part.

Rather, while choosing a befitting summer fashion wear, you should try to own a caring heart, a sensible mind and also a pair of keen eyes which can flaunt (read shed) some drops of tear while noticing the day-by-day degeneration of our beautiful earth, thanks to our hostile fashion apparel.

After all, how come a lady of your caliber can put the whole world at risk merely because her passion for looking the most fashionable on the block is undying? Thus trying to bring an ultimate balance between your fashion sense and this crumbling eco-system, lets pledge to shun all those fashion products which carry toxic dyes, environ-hostile chemicals, only in the name of fashion.

Thus going green this summer 2009 while choosing your summer fashion wear becomes more of a duty than merely choosing to become a fashion diva. Definitely, the time has come to believe in the eco-friendly research reports which frequently warn us against the ill effects of wearing inorganic womens clothing.

Wearing green womens clothing helps you to play your important role in ensuring a world free from the rash effects of deadly and poisonous pesticides and chemicals. Using these dangerous stuffs in order to manipulate, modulate and exploit the real soul(read soil) of the nature, to make fashion apparel, should be condemned by you in the most bitter way possible.

And the most potent way to condemn these hazardous fashion wear is not to arrange a rally which will shout decorated and allegorical anti inorganic and pro organic slogans, and carry some placards too, while marching from bylanes to the main highway. For you, condemning these traditional summer fashion wear becomes too simple.

You just simply stop buying all those fashion products which are made using synthetic and unhealthy materials. Even persuading your near and dear ones too in this regard will be a case of high-esteemed virtue. And remember, to find out a suitable green summer fashion wear you are not required to explore the alien planets. Let me tell you, you will not find a shopping mall of organic products over there. Eh!

For your comfort, almost all designers, whether local or famous ones, have dedicated at least one corner of their fashion house to these organic womens clothing. So go to any local fashion apparel store near by and head straightway towards the shelves which have arranged most recently designed green summer fashion wear exclusively for you.

But ah! Hats off to your sensible thinking. If your are thinking that what benefit it would bring to the world if you wear eco-friendly womens clothing only and will not able to discontinue your penchant for traditional fashion jewelry and fashion footwear, then you are hundred percent right. It sounds ironical too, isn’t it?

Of course this query too has an answer. The designers are all geared up to provide you with stuffs which will help you go all-green. More precisely, from top to middle to bottom. More clearly, a designer belt and a scarf made of eco-friendly materials between a green hat on your head and a pair of organic shoes covering your feet will be more than enough to make you a brand ambassador of green womens fashion apparel.

So if this write-up is handy enough to make you green mentally in a fashionable way, then go and hit the nearest green fashion apparel store in your town much before the summer creeps in. Moreover, wearing something green made of 100 percent organic cotton soothes your gentle skin too. After all, you have chosen something which contains no damaging element, isn’t it?

Lucky Lively: Blake Talks Fashion, Style

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, who relocated to New York from her native L.A. last summer to play Serena van der Woodsen, is featured in the new issue of Lucky Magazine. Here’s what the 20-year-old had to say…

On her fashion icons: “My style has been totally influenced by Audrey Hepburn and Kate Moss equally — they’re such fashion icons. But Sienna Miller’s young, urban style is also totally what I’m going for.”

On her expanding, changing closet: “I grew up in Southern California, so the whole concept of winter is this entirely new, exciting thing for me — I’ve already justified buying seven coats!”

Lucky Cover Girl

Blake Lively on the new cover of Lucky Magazine.

On how Gossip Girl fashion influences her: “Growing up, I was constantly borrowing clothes from my older sisters, or I’d pick out something from Urban Outfitters and my mom would tailor it to my size — I don’t think I ever dressed like a kid. Now that I’m on Gossip Girl, the wardrobe is so amazing and inspiring, it’s opened a whole new style gateway for me!”

On keeping her look mature: “I’m having so much fun, but I’m trying to keep my head together too, style-wise. There are so many young women out there dressing like young girls; I want to be more ladylike and classic.”

On what she’d do if she weren’t acting: “I would love to open my own interior decorating business. I grew up reading Martha Stewart and William Sonoma catalogs, I was never interested in things like Teen Beat.”

On her leading musical inspirations: “My favorite music is Ray Charles for when I want to feel mellow, and Britney Spears or Justin Timberlake when I want something more funky.”

Wa” Is with the Latest Fashion?

Traditional Materials and Techniques Take a Modern Turn

Fashion items that use Japanese motifs and traditional techniques are enjoying newfound attention. Wa (Japanese) taste items are modern products that appeal to a contemporary sensibility while incorporating traditional elements, such as Japanese materials, decorations, or fabrication techniques. Wa touches are finding their way into various fashion products, from jeans and T-shirts to shoes and jewelry.

Jeans with a Japanese Twist
Kyoto Denim is a brand that offers domestically designed and manufactured jeans for women. Its lineup includes jeans with cherry-blossom patterns and jeans that have been dyed by Kyo yuzen, one of Japan’s foremost dyeing techniques, which dates back to the seventeenth century. The brand has created a buzz not only in Japan but also overseas, and in August 2008 it was invited to exhibit at Margin London, a fashion trade exhibition held in London.
Wa-style item srange far and wide. There are dresses and shawls featuring Kyo yuzen or indigo dyeing, kimono-inspired wrap cardigans, and stickers for decorating cell phones featuring makie, the Japanese art of depicting designs on lacquerware with gold, silver, and pigment dust that dates from the Nara period (710-794). On T-shirts, sneakers, and caps and hats can be found prints of various Japanese motifs, such as sho-chiku-bai (pine, bamboo, and Japanese apricot), a combination that is considered auspicious; tsuru-kame (crane and tortoise), which are often employed at celebrations as symbols of longevity; and ocean waves right out of ukiyo-e woodblock prints. Pendants and other jewelry with wa designs are also popular.
Growing Interest at Home and Abroad
A growing number of overseas designers are taking an interest in elements of wa as well. Touches of wa are no longer unusual on the runway, with famous designers introducing belts inspired by kimono sashes in their collections. French designer Marie Bouvero, meanwhile, set her eyes on furoshiki, square cloths that are traditionally used to wrap objects and are enjoying renewed popularity due to their environmentally friendly nature. With their flexibility, Bouvero sensed the roots of bags in furoshiki and decided to tap their potential to transcend the limitations of bags. Her take on the ancient tradition is the mimi pinson fu-ro-shi-ki, a series of colorful furoshiki with humorous and graphic illustrations.

Today a wealth of information from across the world is within quick reach via the Internet. But while it has become easy to learn about styles and tastes hailing from other cultures, young Japanese people are not just following overseas fashion trends; they are also looking with renewed interest upon things Japanese. Elements of wa evidently make young generations of Japanese, who grew up wearing Western attire, feel not so much nostalgic as excited by the discovery of something new.

Hyper-Low Bikini-Pants

First showing up on TV about a year ago, Jeans Bikini-Pants made by Tokyo based fashion brand Sanna’s have been getting an increasing amount of attention in Japan. The Brazil made pants expose more than people are used to.

Sanna's Ultra Low-Rise Bikini Pants

Sanna’s specializes in hyper low jeans, and you can’t get much lower than their ultra low-rise Jeans Bikini-Pants. To cover up all the exposed flesh, Sanna’s designer has added a bikini part to both the front and the back. The result is something that can either be seen as the ultimate in trash, or ultra-cool urban or beach wear.

Fergie & Angelina’s Hair Makeovers

Last week we saw Fergie turn brunette and Angelina go blond: While the M.A.C Viva Glam spokesmodel debuted chocolate locks at the March of Dimes 34th Annual Beauty Ball, Jolie wigged out on the set of her spy movie, Salt. Thinking of giving your hair color an extreme makeover too? Unless you’re donning fake locks like Jolie, there are a few things to keep in mind. First off, if you have blond ambition and a penchant for at-home bleaching, consider yourself warned: Finding that perfect pale hue is super-tricky and involves removing your darker color with lightener and enduring an awkward red-orange stage. On the flipside, if you’re going from blond to brown, skip the bottle of drugstore hair color—even if it’s semi-permanent. While semi-permanent formulas wash out in 6 to 12 shampoos, this rule only holds true for natural, chemically untouched strands. On faux-blond hair, semi-permanent brown color will cause residue, staining, and possible discoloration.

The moral of the story? When exploring the opposite end of the hair color spectrum entrust your locks to an experienced professional. Also keep in mind that doing a complete color overhaul will require new makeup. “Blonds are better with paler eye shadow and lip color; brunettes are better with richer shades,” celebrity colorist Rita Hazan tells ELLE. And if you’re keen on a white-blond hue or mega-light highlights, Hazan says you’ll need more makeup than usual since these can “wash you out and make you look sallow, pale, and old—if you have no color in your hair, you’ll have no color in your skin.”

Jessica Alba Does Elle US The Fashion Issue, March 2009

The fresh mom Jessica Alba is going strong on the market again. To raise our awareness on her subject, what better than a magazine cover?

She didn’t score Vogue (luckily!) but she’s on the cover of Elle US, the March 2009 issue. The Spring Fashion Issue! (don’t miss the rest of the pictures right after the jump!)

Jessica Alba Elle US March09 cover

Jessica Alba is not photographed by herself but in supportive association with five of the most promising designers New York City has to offer at the moment. She the girl of the moment, so why shouldn’t she be suited for the job?

Jessica Alba Elle US March09 subscribers cover

In a scratch my back ideology, highlighting young talented designers shall cast a promising light on Jessica’s now-paused career (due to the blessings of motherhood). Joseph Altuzarra, Rad Hourani, Julian Louie, Frank Tell and Jason Wu (like he needed any more introductions after the Inauguration Ball!), they all had the chance to pose alongside gorgeous Jessica Alba.

Jessica Alba Elle US March09 2 Jessica Alba Elle US March09 3 Jessica Alba Elle US March09 1

The pictures, taken by Carter Smith (and styled by Joe Zee) have a story-telling air, something torn out of a Leibovitz student moment. Brutal, scenographic more than fashionable, all but Jason Wu’s pictures involve a camera. Coincidentally, maybe, that’s exactly the picture I like the most (Jason Wu’s).

The big disappointment was the editorial itself. Because it’s demonstrative at bloggers address, almost revengeful. With a screaming accent on her motherhood and the baby-effects on her life/body/profession, the article looks more like a marketing contract than a sincere journalist’s doing.

“Wu gasps, then pauses. “Wait. Didn’t she just have a baby?”
Take that, blogosphere! At the very moment Wu is speaking, the gossip hounds who made Alba Yahoo!’s fourth most searched person of 2008 (below Britney and Barack, above Lindsay and Angelina) are squawking about a retro-glam calendar she shot for the Italian liquor label Campari. Airbrushed! Photoshopped! No one looks like that in real life!
The haters—and, strangely, Alba does seem to provoke a particularly virulent strain of jealous venom—should see the woman posing on Wu’s shoulder.”

Need I remind the most esteemed Elle editor who signed this piece that the Campari controversy was backed up with strong arguments (images) and Jessica’s world wasn’t really rocked by a tiny photoshop job? She’s a beautiful young woman who still has a lot to show to the world (blogosphere included, so why cast the stone?)

Hot New Hair Style Trends For 2009!

In 2009 hairstyles are taking a trip down memory lane. With 1940s retro fashion being popular, this is reflected in hairstyling. On the catwalks have been seen much sophistication, as per that era, with sleek updos and kinks abounding. These styles take some work and hair products of course, but if spending time on your hairdo is not your thing, do not worry, as at the other end of the 2009 hairstyle spectrum, is bedhead hair, with fluffy curls, looking unkempt, even a little punky, being just as a la mode! As usual there is something to suit everyone, whether you have long hair, short hair, are male or female, curly or straight. Blunt fringes, side sweeps and layers are ever popular as is the bob, but this year, short short crops are making a big come back, as is the color red, from deep copper tones to more pinky red colors, 2009 looks like it will be bright. If you can not bear to part with your long locks, then wearing it up in a pony tail will do, see some great ideas below. Hair accessories add a special something to every style this year, so choose something sparkly or plastic, it will update your style with very little effort!

2009 Hairstyles – Mid Length

If you are growing out short hair and are at that mid length stage, there are plenty of options to look stylish in 2009. Mid length is also a good compromise for femininity, without the hassle of keeping long long tresses pristine. Sleek and sophisticated, like Paris Hilton, or kooky and cool, tousled a la Alexa Chung. Mid length styles are great when growing out shorter styles and can be versatile as well. Wear up for cropped effect or loose and volumised for a feminine look. A fringe adds some edginess to a mid length hairstyle, Kate Moss is a good example of a nice 2009 mid length hairstyle.

2009 Hairstyles – Retro Dos

Well we are going even further back in time…although sixties hairstyles are still popular, in 2009 hairstyles are much influenced by the 1940s. A glamourous and well groomed period that is reflected by the sleek, groomed looks we are seeing this year. Kinks from curling irons, smoothed with serum and glossy waves, look great with retro chic fashion styles that are in the High Street now. If you like the 60s style then back combing and high worn quiffs will give you an edgy look. The forties also inspire the use of hair accessories, so accessorise to your hairs content, with bows, diamonds and feathers for a really retro feel.

2009 Hairstyles – Quiffs

Rock n Roll! Do we need say more? No self respecting rock chick would be complete without sporting the occasional quiff. Made popular by Elvis way back when, but no longer tied to the male domain, quiffs can add height and an element of glamour and style to both short and long hairstyles. Practical short styles can be properly glammed up for the evening, with just a touch of styling into a quiff and long hair also can be tied back with the front part quiffed for a very fashionable evening look. Dramatic and trendy, quiffs are definitely all the rage in 2009!

quiff hair

2009 Hairstyles – Layers

Layers are suitable for everyone, cut into the mid section of long hair they give volume, added to ends of hair give a sleeker finish and layers are an easy way to update tresses. One length hair is notoriously difficult to wear, layers are usually more flattering, framing a face and making you look a little more edgy. Layers also add volume, think of Jennifer Aniston and the “Rachel” cut! You can create a variety of effects using layers, just ask your hair dresser. Layers are the easiest way to update your hairstyle, whether it is long or short, layers give you a more modern look.

2009 layered hairstyle

2009 Hairstyles – Fringes

This year fringes are being worn super short, full fat and eye tickling, or visor like and layered. Rock chicks such as Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung have been seen sporting side sweep fringes. Cameron Diaz and Hilary Duff have opted for super short heavy and blunt fringes. Brittany Murphy and Christina Ricci have feathered provocative, peep thru fringes. To see some of this seasons fringe styles, look in the 2009 hairstyles gallery.

2009 Hairstyles – Pony Tails

If you want to keep your hair long, but also want to show off your beautiful face to it’s full glory, then a pny tail is the answer. Giving a cropped hair effect, pony tails are practical and stylish. Dress up the pony tail with hair accessories such as sparkling grips, even feathers and plastic alice bands. This years pony tails are more than just scraped back hair, the actual pony tail should be scrunched or crimped for a full bodied textured look. Half pony tails also look cute and are fashionable in 2009, as worn by Cate Blanchett, easy to style, just as it sounds, tie back half the hair, leaving lots of soft strands, for a less severe form of updo.

cate blanchett pony tail

2009 Hairstyles – Updos

As with the pony tail, in 2009 updos have a little more attitude. You can easily add some attitude to any updo with back combed sections and even with a quiff. Hayden Panettiere is a shining example of how to accessorize an updo, bows are big and intricate braided updos like Sarah Michelle Gellar wears, offer a practical daytime look that are still suitable for a dramatic evening look upsweep. Updos are very stylish and many stars wear beautiful updos that can inspire you, such as Eva Mendes.

2009 Hairstyles – Kinks

Kink the ends of super sleek styles to add a touch of the latest look to your hairstyle. For inspiration see Gwyneth Paltrow in our 2009 hairstyle gallery. Kinks are easy to add if you have hot irons or curling tongs, just tweak the ends of your style to give a flattering touch of interest to otherwise plain styles.

gwyneth paltrow kinks hairstyle

2009 Hairstyles – Short

Short hair is easy to maintain, so very practical. It is quick to style and this year of course the best exaample of a brave short crop is being worn by Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham. It goes to show that short hair can still be ultra feminine, especially if layers are taken advantage of and the fringe is cut right to suit your face shape. Color can add texture to short hairstyles and in 2009 red shades are the latest color for hair. From low lights to a full head, color can define and add alot to short hair. With quiffs being seen on many catwalks this year, do not be shy with the wax to achieve sculpted looks and lots of height!

2009 short hair

2009 Hairstyles – Long Hair

Long hair can look flat and lifeless, but you can easily add bulk and definition with some razored layers and curls. Lindsey Lohan plaits her long hair for extra texture and life, Kate Hudson wears hers sleek and Hayden Panettiere tousles her long locks. Jennifer Garner wears hers waved, as does Lauren Conrad. Long hair is still fashionable, as long as you are willing to put in the time to jazz it up, which need not take too much time at all really, as all you need do is plait a little, tousle a little, add a few accessories or curls and away you go. The latest and most fashionable thing for long hair, really is for it to be healthy and shining. Every year healthy hair is going to look good, without too much effort, so make sure if you have long hair to keep it in great condition, use treatments and heat protector is you are doing much blow drying or styling.

long hair 2009

2009 Hairstyles – Bobs

Bobs are still popular hairstyles in 2009, so versatile, a bob can be textured or sleek, so whatever type of hair you have, fine or course, there is a bob out there for you. The first bob was the flapper (Louise Brooks) and was seen around the 1920s, amidst much womens movements towards liberation, so the bob came and has stayed, as have the flappers ideals. Bobs really are very symbolic of modern women and in 2009 such a symbol remains as forward thinking and popular as ever. Even though Victoria Beckam has cut hers off, the bob is unlikely to go out of style and will remain a good look for 2009. This year to update your bob, cut some layers or kink the ends for the latest look!

bob hairstyle

2009 Hairstyles – The Color Red

Warm, rich and vibrant, as seen on Cynthia Nixon, Marcia Cross and Julia Roberts, red tones and highlights are very popular for 2009 hair color. A red streak or a full head of pinky red tones, look great and fun and give any hairstyle a modern look. As red fades the fastest of all hair colors, make sure you use color maintenance products, to keep that shade at it’s best. Also if red is new for you, do not forget that you may need to change your make up colors as well, as red hair calls for neutral tones, such as gold, chestnut, camel, beige, honey, terra cotta, russet and raisin. Smokey eyes particularly compliment red hair.

red hair color

2009 Hairstyles – Blonde

If you want to be a blonde, then in 2009 the way to go is to use an overlaying multi mix of shades within a tonal family, rather than a flat shallow blonde. A full head of blonde hair looks great, but use multi toned highlights to give it the modern 2009 hairstyle look. Roots need not be a problem, as with Alice bands still fashionable, when the roots start to show, they can be hidden beneath an Alice Band, giving you some extra time before a touch up. Golden and ash blondes look great, remember to find complimentary make up shades and color maintenance products to keep it in tip top condition. Gwneth Paltrow is a good example of how blonde hair in 2009 can look!

blonde hair

2009 Hairstyles – Dark

Think of the dark and brooding Angelina Jolie, as a great example of dark tones this season. Aubergine and deep chocolate rather than raven black, are what you should be aiming for. Dark hair looks great with lots of shine, and so a serum and shine spray are must haves to give your hair a really healthy shine. Some brunettes swear by a beer rinse of their hair to give that extra shine, but here at hairstylezone, we reccommend a healthy diet, plenty of sleep and a good quality shampoo and conditioner to achieve the same this year.

dark 2009 hairstyle

2009 Hairstyles – Sleek

Get a mirror like shine using serum for slicked back hairstyles in 2009. Retro sleek looks are in, such as worn by forties starlets and they were sleek and neat with a glossy finish, as glossy as the mags they appeared in. To add extra height to an otherwise sleek hairstyle, back comb the roots for extra height beneath and then smooth on serum for a sleek surface finish.

sleek hairstyle

2009 Hairstyles – Curls

Curls are cute and corkscrew or big and bouncy, fluffy curls are back and as mousse can make curls crispy, style with cremes and serum instead. This season there is a moving away from dishevelled curls, towards more groomed, luscious looking curls. More glamourous with a retro 1940s feel, with the top section groomed and luxe, whilst the bottom section curls tumble freely and naturally.

curly hairstyle

2009 Hairstyles – Waves

Waves add movement to an otherwise static hairstyles. Leighton Meester has waves in her hair this year and you can add kinks with straightning irons or boost natural kinks with salt spray to make boho waves. Keep wavy hair in check with styling products like serum and shine spray, and in 2009 the trend is for waves in the bottom section of hair, keeping the top section smooth and straight.
